Florida Injury Lawyer Reports: Motorcycle Accidents Cost Billions
Recent studies done by the United States Government have shown that motorcycle crashes in Florida and across the nation are costing billions of dollars each year. As a motorcycle rider, you know the inherent danger that goes along with hitting the open road on a bike. You are smaller than vehicles and more difficult to see. Likewise, you are not protected by steel surrounding you as drivers and passengers are in cars. Therefore, if you are involved in a Florida motorcycle accident, you are likely to suffer serious injury.
In the study, the U.S. Government Accountability Office found that fatal motorcycle accidents cost on average $1.2 million per accident. In 2010, all motorcycle crash expenses totaled $16 billion. The money is being spent on necessary items to help victims recover, including:
- Medical expenses
- Lost wages
- Property damage
- Lost household productivity
- Travel delays
- Legal fees
The data shows the severity of motorcycle accidents in Orlando and elsewhere. This is particularly true for fatal accidents where the cost of the collision is on average in the millions.
