I thought that this month I would talk about buying a used car and what to look for. In addition to my wife and I having a full service garage, we also buy and sell used cars & trucks. I am a licensed Florida used car dealer. Read on to get some helpful advice from a Orlando used car dealer and Orlando car accident lawyer.
Once you find a vehicle that you are interested in, arrange to have a independent shop inspect the vehicle for mechanical condition. Ask for a vehicle history report (Carfax). This helps with mileage, flood & any title issues. Notice how the vehicle drives and shifts, look at the tires for unusual wear. Park on a clean area and check for any drops. Does the truck or interior smell wet? Take a moment and look down both sides of the car. Do you see any panel or fitment issues? Trust your instincts and with a good inspection you should be on track. There are a lot of good used vehicles available and you need to take your time to look at the car for what it really is. I hope this will get you to think before you buy especially if the car is “as is”. Once you buy “as is” it is yours. Some used vehicles are certified and come with warranties. Other cars may qualify for extended warranties. Shop around for pricing on extended warranties. I have found prices vary greatly.
So now you are at the point of purchasing the vehicle. This part is “tricky” if you are financing – the dealer will probably place you wherehegets the best deal. If you have good credit and they quote you a seriously high rate STOP and shop it yourself. I find credit unions usually have the best rates. The lender also should keep your from paying too much for the vehicle. If they will only loan so much that means you have to put down the difference.
I hope that this information helps with your buying experience.
