Check this article out in the Orlando Sentinel on the New PIP Law.http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-06-25/business/fl-atwater-focusing-on-pip-reforms-20120624_1_fight-insurance-fraud-insurance-premiums-insurance-companies
I would like to point out there are several errors in this article. Number 1, massage and acupuncture are covered until January 1, 2013. The only effects of the new law that will really be felt July 1 of this year, is certain provider reimbursement rates, and certain licensure law changes. None of this, at least directly, impacts consumers.
However, the part of this article that should outrage everyone is where the insurers admit skepticism over whether this law will actually reduce auto insurance premiums for the consumer. After all, that is why they passed the darn thing at 9pm the last night of this past legislative session.
Knowledge Equals Power in Orlando Auto Accident Cases
This law is simply not the answer. In fact, based on the recent Channel 9 story, where State Farm and other insurer trade groups blatantly stated it will fail and blamed the same on PIP attorney fees, I believe the law was purposely constructed to fail, in an attempt to come back and pass more, pro-industry reform.
