Michael T. Gibson

On December 14, 2000, my mother was hit head-on by an elderly driver. She survived, but the crash left her with permanent RSD and nerve damage. Two painful procedures, countless injections, and years of physical therapy later, she is still living with it.

A personal injury attorney represented her, and he did far more than work a file. He listened. He fought for her with real passion, and when it seemed no one else would, he took a hotly contested uninsured-motorist case to the courthouse steps and won my mother and our family the justice they deserved. He showed me that a lawyer can bring hope where there is none.

My mother’s accident changed everything for us. My grandmother, who lived with us my whole life and helped raise me, had to move into a nursing home. In late 2001, she fell in the bathroom there. Over the next eight weeks she suffered several strokes, severe bedsores, and a rapid decline. I watched her wither away. She weighed 70 pounds when she died. And I watched other patients in that home be ignored and left behind.

After that, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to fight for good, honest people who had fallen on hard times through no fault of their own, people ignored by the very companies that signed a contract to protect them. I put myself through college and law school, and I have spent my entire career representing injured people against car insurance companies, hospitals, and nursing homes.

I do this because I see my mother and grandmother, at least a little, in every client I have the honor to represent.

My approach hasn’t changed since the day I opened the firm: prepare every case as if it is going to trial. Insurance adjusters know the difference between a lawyer who settles and a lawyer who is ready to fight, and that difference shows up in every offer they put on the table. I don’t represent insurance companies, corporations, or hospitals, and I never will. When you sit across from me, you are sitting across from someone who has only ever stood on one side of this fight: yours.

Michael T. Gibson was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, and came to Central Florida to attend the University of Central Florida. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Florida A&M University College of Law and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2006. He began his career at one of Central Florida’s largest personal injury firms before founding Michael T. Gibson, P.A., a firm built so that every client is treated like a person, not a file number. He lives in Orlando with his wife, Jennefer Martinez-Gibson, and their children, Brady and Emory.
